Add Live Chat On Every Page Of Your Website

In a recent article by Jason Cohen of Smart Bear Software, titled "Authentic is dead", Jason argues that certain commonly used words and phrases have lost their meaning and should be avoided when marketing business products and services. He also suggests that we should 'show' what's on offer rather than 'tell' the customers. Jason urges businesses to stop claiming that their customer support is eager, responsive or intelligent - why not put a "chat now" bar in every page of your website!!

We believe that this is great advice and thought it would be an ideal opportunity to 'show' you just how straightforward it can be to integrate Powow's web-based Chat feature into your website. We would even go one step further and suggest that you should assign the "chat now" link to every email that you send so that your customers can benefit from the option to communicate with you in real-time rather than play email ping-pong!

The first thing that you'll notice about Powow's IM Chat is that it's completely web-based (i.e. it only requires an Internet browser). So, your customers won't have to install any third-party software and can request or join Chat conversations without needing to login or give any information away. And yet, you have full control of who can be contacted via the Chat facility and you will always retain the transcript of all conversations with your customers.

We've put together this short video to show you how easy it is to set-up a new IM Chat link using 3 simple steps:

  1. Select the Add icon in your “Relationships“ menu to create a new Chat account.
  2. Choose the Chat folder and enter a name before saving the new account.
  3. Open the Chat report (or Edit the folder) to obtain the unique link, which should be added to your website.

That's it; you've just created a Live Chat link that can be displayed on you website or, added to your email signature. When an external contact clicks on this link, they enter a waiting room so that they can confirm their request to Chat with you. As long as you are logged into Powow, you will be notified of an incoming Chat request and can accept the conversation. Thereafter, the full transcript and any attachments will be saved in Powow and can be shared with your colleagues. What's more, if you use Powow's virtual emails, each outgoing message will automatically carry a unique Chat link and all ensuing Chat conversations will be assigned to the relevant contact or project.
